Kammersängerin Annely Peebo

Kammersängerin Annely Peebo was born in Estonia. She first studied piano and choral conducting in her home country before continuing her vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she was trained by Prof. Gerhard Kahry (voice), Kurt Equiluz (Lied and oratorio) and Kurt Malm (opera class).

Renowned for her warm mezzo-soprano voice and exceptional versatility, Annely Peebo has appeared on the world's leading opera stages. Her signature roles include Carmen (Carmen), Angelina/Cenerentola (La Cenerentola), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Kundry (Parsifal), Fricka (Das Rheingold), Ježibaba (Rusalka), Sylva Varescu (Die Csárdásfürstin), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Mary (Der fliegende Holländer), Cherubino and Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro), among many others.

International Stages

She has performed at the world's foremost opera houses and festivals, including La Scala Milan, Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra Bastille Paris, the Salzburg Festival, NCPA Beijing, National Theatre Tokyo, Finnish National Opera, Teatro San Carlo Naples, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Teatro Regio Turin, as well as at the Bregenz, Aix-en-Provence, St. Margarethen and Savonlinna Festivals, and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. Her guest performances have also taken her to Sydney, Shanghai, Genoa, Florence, Lyon, Baden-Baden, Athens, Lisbon, Parma, Ravenna and Moscow.

Volksoper Vienna

Since 1997, Annely Peebo has been a distinguished ensemble member of the Volksoper Vienna, where she has performed title roles in Carmen, La Cenerentola and Boccaccio, as well as major parts such as Czipra, Sylva Varescu, Donna Elvira, Maddalena, Sextus, Prince Orlofsky, Dorabella, Cherubino, Jezibaba, Mary, Venus, Zita and many others.

Conductors

She has collaborated with some of the most celebrated conductors of our time, including Georges Prêtre, Neeme and Paavo Järvi, Kirill Petrenko, Riccardo Chailly, Fabio Luisi, Sir Neville Marriner, Bertrand de Billy, Plácido Domingo, Nathalie Stutzmann and Kristiina Poska.

Directors

She has worked with renowned stage directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Giorgio Strehler, Philippe Arlaud, Robert Carsen and Dario Fo.

Concert & Baroque

Equally in demand as a concert and baroque singer, Annely Peebo has appeared with orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, Osaka Philharmonic, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Stuttgart and Munich Philharmonics, Vienna Symphony, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Orchestra Verdi Milano, MDR Symphony Orchestra and RAI Symphony Orchestra Turin.

In 2003 she performed Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 at the Vatican to mark the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II's pontificate. She also co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn, represented Estonia before a global television audience, and appeared with Andrea Bocelli and José Carreras in open-air gala concerts, as well as in Christmas in Vienna 2006 and Anna Netrebko's production of The Snow Queen.
